The Office of the Second Judicial District Attorney improves the quality of life of the citizens of Bernalillo County by reducing crime through thoughtful enforcement of the law and the development of a fair and effective criminal justice system. The Office is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and is seeking qualified applicants for a Special Agent (Dignitary Support Assignment) position in Albuquerque.

Under the supervision of the Special Agent in Charge, the Special Agent is a sworn law enforcement officer responsible for providing protective and logistical support to the District Attorney and executive staff, while also assisting with investigative and enforcement duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the criminal justice system and law enforcement operations; Ability to draft documentation such as warrants, reports, tactical operation plans, and dignitary protection briefings; Familiarity with procedures involved in safely and effectively affecting arrests and conducting protective details; Experience with police patrol, tactical operations, and protective driving techniques; Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with public officials, law enforcement agencies, and community partners; Ability to conduct site assessments, advance planning, and coordination for events involving the District Attorney or visiting dignitaries; Commitment to discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.

Minimum Qualifications: Associates degree in criminology, criminal justice, police science or a related field, or two (2) years work experience in related field, plus New Mexico Peace Officer Certification.

Preferred Qualifications: New Mexico Peace Officer Certification plus three (3) years of work experience, education, and/or training in law enforcement, investigations, or dignitary/executive protection; Training in tactical operations, defensive driving, and event security coordination.

Working Conditions: Work is performed both in the office and in the field. Considerable physical effort may be required. The position may involve irregular hours, on-call assignments, and travel for official events or dignitary protection details. The Special Agent may encounter dangerous situations in the course of duties. A take-home vehicle will be authorized for official use only.
